2010 Summit Climb - Mt. Shuksan, Washington
Event Dates: 07/09/2010 – 07/11/2010
Fundraising Goal: $10,000.00 | Total Raised: $4,180.00
If you knew Mitch, you’re well aware that he thrived on challenges, so in his memory we will accept the challenge of another mountain climb for a worthy cause. MSC is passionate about taking care of the needs of others in the same way that my cousin was always looking for ways to help out. Some ways MSC has been able to help is by sending teams to work in orphanages in areas of Peru and most recently Baja, Mexico, coordinating total renovation projects in women’s homeless shelters in Chicago, and an exciting new partnership to drill a clean water well in Liberia.
This year’s Summit Climb is Mt. Shuksan, a heavily glaciated peak in the North Cascades of Washington.

Many people would recognize Mt. Shuksan as it is one of the most photographed mountains in the U.S. It stands 9,127 ft above sea level with an approximate vertical rise of 5,000 ft. Shuksan will be a little bit different than last year’s Mt .Baker as we will throw some technical rock climbing into the mix near the summit. This year’s climb will require 2 nights on the mountain to help assure our success and safety.
6 climbers have chosen to accept the challenge this year, including 3 “newbies” to mountaineering. 3 of us will be repeat offenders as we try to tackle the challenges of Mt. Shuksan. You can learn a little bit about each climber by reading their bio.
Although 6 of us will physically be on the mountain, we ask that you would accept this challenge with us by supporting a climber. You can leave an encouraging word on their bio page, commit to pray for their safety, and make a donation to projects that are making a difference in the lives of real people in the U.S. and abroad.
