I CHOOSE TO TRUST

Trust is the antidote to anxiety; it’s the resolution of worry and the destruction of fear. Trust is the act of my will to give my burdens to God. It’s like a muscle—as you exercise it, trust gets stronger.

Trust is walking forward moment by moment, having rolled your burden onto God. You’ve no doubt said, “I gave it to God once, but here it is again in my grip.” When you sense that you’ve taken it back again, get back on your knees, get the burden back on God, get on your feet again, and continue to trust.

When you off-load your burden onto God, you can pick up a promise from His Word. Second Peter 1:4 tells us that “he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world.” There are literally hundreds of promises that apply to your specific burden. God’s Word is filled with treasure.

I’m claiming Isaiah 41:10 right now for a burden I am leaving at God’s feet: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” There it is! God is doing this whole thing with one hand tied behind His back. He’s not stressed or strained. He’s not worried about what to do. He has absolutely no capacity limits!

Isaiah continues, “For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you’” (v.13).

Take a moment to read that awesome promise again. Trust means you anchor your heart in the reality of God’s awareness of your situation. He sees more than you can ever see. God, who loves you and is committed to you, will not disappoint you now or in the future if you put your weight fully on Him.

TABITHA HOUSE, PHASE 5: WE'RE FINALLY DONE!!!!

The Mitchell Swaback Foundation is pleased to announce that the entire third floor of Tabitha House is complete!

The Board of Directors gratefully thank each and every one of our partners in helping us complete this phase. We encourage you to visit our website and look at the message board for some heart felt thanks of those who will be using the bedrooms and washrooms.

We actually came in under budget by $14,000.00 and will begin the second floor south side of Tabitha immediately. Along with that work, we will complete the main stairway and vestibule.

We also want to thank our volunteer wrap up crew of Kathy Rail, Jeannine Biermann, Dina Ingersoll, Allison Grippe, Tom Philippsen, David Moe, Audrey Comparet, Jeff Harbeck, Tim Turpin and Jamie Harrison who helped make the new rooms feel like home!

Letter from Willia Anderson: President of Tabitha House

Tabitha House gratefully acknowledges the generosity of The Mitchell Swaback Foundation, which made the first-class, multi-phased renovations of our third floor residential dormitory.

To date, the Swaback Foundation volunteers have donated a great number of hours towards the completion of this entire project, which enables us to provide services for an additional 25-30 people in need.

The outpouring of your help is outstanding.  The quality of service and spirit in which the volunteers completed this awesome project was full of integrity and always done in a timely manner.  The Foundation even went the extra mile by providing bed linens.

As a result, we are able to upgrade our services to include a computer room with internet capabilities for resident training and job search.

Thanks to The Mitchell Swaback Foundation our little shelter is becoming more and more efficient and a place that our residents can be proud of.  It is foundations like The Mitchell Swaback Foundation that help support our mission by coming together to help make a difference in the lives of the many people that we serve.  Without your commitment, our task would have been difficult.

We give our heartfelt thanks to you for joining forces with us to make a difference. In this current economy, we understand the value of the contributions from our financial donors and volunteers. We know that our volunteers and donors are the heart and soul of Tabitha House. Your continued support to our community and to the many homeless women and children that we serve is priceless.

May God continue to bless you and bring you much joy for all of your kindness.  Once again, thank you for caring and sharing with those who have a need at Tabitha House.

Sincerely,

Willia Anderson
President

MSF PERU TEAM 2009: WE'RE IN PERU!!

Pachacamac, Peru

As you read this letter MSF has ten individuals serving in Pachacamac, Peru.  On Saturday January 31st our group arrived in Lima, Peru.  After arriving at 11:30 pm we loaded up the vans and drove about 50 minutes to our home for the next week.  With just a few hours of sleep we all woke up and attended church.  After church we headed for lunch and then visited both the Cuna Day Care Center in Manchay and the new Orphanage in Pachacamac.  We were able to see what work lies ahead for the coming week.  Some of the construction jobs we will be accomplishing are: drywall and taping, hanging doors and cabinets, tile floors and drop ceilings.  This is our forth year making this trip to Peru and as always the highlight is seeing and spending time with the kids.

We thank God for the opportunity to use our skills to make a difference in these kids’ lives.  Please pray for safety, the projects that we’ll be doing and changed lives for the following men: Clint Howard, Jim Sullivan, Chris Goudie, Jim Detlaff, Don DeFiore, Bill Swaback, Rick Jayko, Bill Erdmann, Paul Thompson and Bob Swaback.

Mitch's Journal

Wednesday 3/17/2004

God taught me today more about dwelling and staying focused on Him. Putting all the little stuff aside that gets in the way of our walk and giving God our undivided attention.

Mitch spent the last few months of his life not only living his life for the Lord but putting his thoughts in his journal everyday. How do we want to live our lives? Why don't we all try something radical today for the Lord!
