Mitch's Journal

Mitch's Journal

It's been over four years since Mitch went home to be with the Lord. Gaye and I though this would be a good time to share some comments that Mitch had kept in a daily journal. At the time Mitch started this journal he was going through a difficult time in his life. Gaye gave Mitch this journal and encouraged him to write down his thoughts each day and look for what God wanted to teach him.

As parents our hope is that our kids will walk with the Lord daily and stay strong in their faith.  Gaye and I knew that Mitch was right with the Lord by observing his life and the many testimonies we have heard. But God wanted us to see what Mitch wrote and what he was learning everyday.

Everyday Mitch wrote a full page on what happened that day and then he would always end with this, what is God teaching me today? We'll share some of his thoughts.

On the inside cover Gaye wrote Mitch-Love you Forever...OX

On the second page the verse Isaiah 40:31 was written:

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.

We lost our b-ball game this morning. No one on our team could get into the game! I broke my thumb in the game! Went home and watched college b-ball all day. Then went to Jeff's and watched more. I love b-ball! Today God taught me about my relationship with Him …

I had two meetings today and then I was done. I needed to get out of the office, one of my friends is up from Oklahoma so we'll go out and do something fun. Today I learned about the supremacy of Jesus Christ — when I commit myself to the truth …

Our Mission

Mitchell Swaback Charities was started October 15th, 2004. Our purpose is to continue to impact individuals, organizations and families as Mitch has done so many times. We want to continue Mitch's compassion to serve in missions, the church and to honor God in the way Mitch did on a daily basis. We will continue to form partnerships that will allow us to expand our ministry.

Through the many opportunities that surround us, we look forward to making a difference.

We will honor the Lord in all we do. Learn more >>

Mitch's Story

For 23 years our son Mitch etched memories into the hearts of everyone he met. He was as real as they come. What he meant to us and to so many others now belongs to the legacy we will cherish forever.

At Mitch's going-home service Pastor James MacDonald used one word that best described Mitch: "Maximum." Read more >>
